The patient is a 62 year old male with a history of asbestos exposure
and interstitial lung disease diagnosed in 1995. He has been on steroids
since then and is currently on home O2 at 12 L. He was recently treated
for pneumonia and is on the lung transplant list. He presents today with
severe shortness of breath and is admitted to the hospital to the pulmonary
service for intubation and mechanical ventilation.
