The patient was taken to surgery where the initial valve replacement went without complication. However, after completion the patient had no electrical rhythm. Bypass grafts to the LAD, the obtuse marginal and the RCA were performed. She finally regained a rhythm but continued to have poor function. A right ventricular assist device and intra-aortic balloon pump were placed and she was admitted to the surgical intensive care unit in serious condition.
