The patient
is an 84 year old female with a significant past history of joint pain
who is status post
bilateral total hip arthroplasty. She had been using OxyContin but still
was unable to walk due to right hip pain. The day of her admission she
was
on her way into the hospital for revision of the right hip because of continued
pain and “leg shortening” when the car she was riding in was
struck by another vehicle.
