The duodenum was inspected and a small amount of bleeding was observed coming from the ulcer previously described. The patient subsequently had a bradycardic cardiopulmonary arrest necessitating that the surgical procedure be discontinued.

His abdomen was packed and he was taken for urgent angiography. Interventional radiology was able to embolize the gastroduodenal artery but the patient died shortly thereafter.
