Molecular Biology 6420 - Genetics and Genome Organization

last modified 2007-09-04 11:12 — by Dave - admin

The Genetics and Genomes course covers transmission of the genetic analysis in humans and various model organisms. Some students have not had adequate preparation in Genetics (such as a comprehensive undergraduate course in Genetics), and have struggled in the graduate course. To prevent such problems, all entering students will be given a simple exam at the beginning of the semester. This entrance exam will cover basic concepts in Genetics. You should have no problem with this entrance exam if you review the CD-Rom/Booklet entitled Interactive Genetics. You can find the books on reserve at the campus libraries or you can check them out from the Program office or buy it (ISBN 0-7380-0442-1) for $15.00 form Hayden-McNiel Publishing. The course also has a required textbook, Hawley, R.S. and M.Y. Walker. Advanced Genetic Analysis. Blackwell Publishing. ISBN 1-405-10336-1. It is available at the University Bookstore. Prerequisite: BIOL 2030 or equivalent.
