About G. Lynn Powell, D.D.S.
Dr. Powell has focused his research efforts in the last 10 years on finding laser applications in clinical dentistry and proving their effects and safety.
In the area of hard tissue and cavity preparation Dr. Powell designed and supervised the clinical studies that were presented to FDA to gain clearance for clinical use (1997). Applied laser technology, conducted laboratory and clinical and received clearance from FDA for rapid polymerization of light activated composites. First to do so in 10 seconds or less (1989). Lab and clinic lasers to prevent tooth decay and enhance fluoride uptake (4 patents) and currently before FDA for clinical use.
Demonstrated and verified methods to disinfect dental impressions without changing accuracy and dimensional stability. Adopted and used currently in dental practices.
