Clinical Cytogenetics Fellowship
About Clinical Cytogenetics Fellowship
The Division of Medical Genetics in collaboration with ARUP Laboratories offers a two-year fellowship program (with the possibility of an additional year of research) in clinical cytogenetics. This fellowship involves the processing and analysis of the chromosomes of various types of samples with the express purpose of detecting and interpreting chromosomal abnormalities. Fellows who train for certification in clinical cytogenetics will participate in all aspects of sample preparation, analysis, and reporting, with more than enough opportunities to acquire cases for their logbook. Fellows will be responsible for quarterly chromosome rounds held within the division to enhance their teaching skills and encourage publication of highly interesting cases. Fellows will also develop an individualized research project based on the ongoing research and development activities within the laboratory, which will be primarily translational in scope and will likely involve collaborations within our Division of Medical Genetics and within ARUP Laboratories.
This training program satisfies the requirements for the American Board of Medical Genetics examination in Clinical Cytogenetics.
