|
Research Description: Current projects include clinical studies to evaluate the effects of radiation on different breast reconstruction strategies. In conjunction with surgical oncology we are performing a randomized study to evaluate the clinical and histological effects of radiation on breast reconstruction with autologous tissue or implant based reconstruction. Additionally, at the University of Utah we have a unique treatment algorithm for timing of reconstruction in the face of radiation. This data has not yet been reported. Medical student roles include assistance with study protocol formulation, data gathering and analysis, and manuscript preparation. This is a good opportunity for students to obtain experience in clinical research and potentially get their name on a publication or two.
Does this research involve human subjects or animals? No If yes, what is the protocol number? 1/2008 |
