Lung endothelial glycoproteins and capillary barrier
function

Research description:  My laboratory is interested in lung inflammation, pulmonary edema and molecular issues related to acute lung injury and the adult respiratory distress syndrome. We use both cell culture models and animal models to examine the molecular mechanisms of pulmonary edema.  Our primary focus is how specific cell surface glycoproteins regulate capillary
permebaility during lung injury and we are developing compounds to target these glycoproteins in order to attenuate edema formation.
