|
My laboratory has recently developed an in vitro assay for HIV-1 latency that uses primary, peripheral blood CD4+ cells (Bosque and Planelles, unpublished). This assay was developed with the following goals in mind: (1) to understand, at a molecular level, the contribution of HIV-1 accessory genes to the establishment of latency; and (2) to evaluate whether different subsets of CD4+lymphocytes (ie., naïve, effector memory, central memory) have different abilities to harbor latent proviruses. 1/2008 |
