Structural Proteomics

The ESCRT budding pathway contains at least 30 proteins, including two that bind directly to HIV proteins.  In collaboration with Chris Hill’s laboratory, we have initiated a structural proteomics program aimed at defining structural biology of this important pathway.  We have completed structures of more than 10 proteins and complexes involved in HIV budding.  We are currently screening other candidate proteins and complexes involved in HIV budding for suitability in NMR and crystallographic studies.  In addition to revealing the protein structures, these studies help us to generate testable hypotheses for protein functions.
