The Pathology Department would like to welcome Dr. Anne Tebo to the University of Utah and ARUP.

Dr. Tebo comes to us with a wealth of unique and diverse experience.  Born and raised in Cameroon, she received a BS degree in Microbiology from  the Obafemi Awolowo University in Ile-Ife and a MS degree in Zoology from the University of Ibadan all in Nigeria Following her Master’s Degree, she spent some time working as a research assistant in  OCEAC ( French acronym for Organization for the fight against endemic diseases in the Central African Region) in Yaounde, Cameroon. In 1998, she received a German scholarship (DAAD) to pursue graduate studies in the Institute of Tropical Medicine at the Eberhard Karls Universität in Tuebingen. She successfully completed her doctoral studies with research emphasis on mechanisms of antibody-mediated protection against the asexual stages of the malaria parasite and obtained her Ph.D. in 2002.

After finishing her studies in Tuebingen, Dr. Tebo became a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. During her Postdoctoral training, her research was focused in defining phenotypic attributes of protective CD8 T cell responses in the mouse model for Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis Virus (LCMV). In 2004, Dr. Tebo joined the Department of Pathology at the University of Utah as a Clinical Immunology Fellow under the direction of Dr. Harry Hill.

Following the completion of the Clinical Immunology Fellowship, Dr. Tebo was hired in ARUP as an Assistant Medical Director of Immunology with her main emphasis being in the autoimmune laboratories as well as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology.  Dr. Tebo’s research interests include both clinical and translational aspects of cell-mediated and humoral immunology in the area of clinical laboratory diagnostics and mechanisms of pathogenesis in autoimmune diseases. Her three main areas of interest include evaluation and development of diagnostic assays for autoimmune diseases, defining the role of genetic and serologic biomarkers in predicting autoimmune disease prognosis, and assessment of immune competence and dysfunction in individuals with autoimmune diseases before and/or during treatment.

We are thrilled to have Dr. Tebo working here at Utah.  Her past research and experience will make her a great addition to the department and ARUP.
