Dr. Harsh Thaker, who recently joined our anatomic pathology division, received his medical degree at the University of Bombay in India in 1988.  His interest in developmental genetics led him to Yale University where he got his PhD. He next completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University before returning to the east coast to join the Pathology residency program at Columbia University.  After his residency he continued on the faculty at Columbia where he was Assistant Professor until July 2008.

Dr Thaker’s principal academic interest is in the field of perinatal pathology, which includes the study of the placenta and fetus.  His research has included the investigation of gene expression in placentas from pregnancies that are complicated by intrauterine growth restriction and miscarriage.  His other interests include pathology of the genitourinary tract, especially the prostate and urinary bladder.  Dr Thaker looks forward to working collaboratively with colleagues in surgical pathology, pediatric pathology as well as in the related clinical departments.

Dr Thaker, his wife (Dr. Singh, also in our department) and their daughter are excited to be in Utah.  Welcome Dr. Thaker!
