About Shashirekha Shetty, Ph.D

Dr. Shashirekha Shetty received both her MS and Ph.D. from the University of Mumbai , Mumbai, India.  She completed a fellowship in CCMG Cytogenetics, University of Calgary, Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary, Canada in 2006.  She has Board Certification with the American Board of Medical Genetics (Sub:  Clinical Cytogenetics, and the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists; has current membership in American College of Medical Genetics, American Society of Human Genetics and is a Committee Member of the Canadian College of Medical Geneticists.

Dr Shetty, with her expertise and experience the area of death receptors and breast cancer research, moved on to continue her research in Cytogenetics to understand the basic mechanisms and the role chromosome abnormalities play in prenatal, postnatal and cancer cytogenetics.  She developed independent research to understand the role of balanced chromosome and its effect on the phenotype of children with developmental delay /or other congenital anomalies.
