Welcome to CasePath on the Web This site was developed at the University of Utah by Juliana Szakacs, M.D. for use in the Pathology Laboratories in the second year of medical school. Building on the department's tradition of providing multimedia teaching resources a series of cases were designed to help students increase their fund of knowledge and improve problem solving and diagnostic skills. The cases present complex issues in patient evaluation and diagnosis and include data from labs, X-rays, EKG's, operative and consultation notes and descriptions of physical findings. At this institution the lab cases are used to prepare students for the clinical years by teaching them to choose appropriate diagnostic tests, evaluate test effectiveness and to present case material in a concise manner.
